Walter Keith LeGardye

Mr. Walter Keith LeGardye, affectionately known as “Walt”, was born on March 2, 1960, in Flint, Michigan to the late O’Neal LeGardye and the late Eurene Warner. He was a graduate of Northwestern High School in Flint, Michigan and furthered is education at Flint Institute of Barbering.

Walter was wed to the former Valerie Levon Taylor and from this union three children were born.

Walter was a licensed barber and cosmetologist for 29 years. He was also a master barber and was influential in many students receiving their licenses. He was known throughout the Spartanburg community for his barbering skills.

Walter was a lover of old school R&B and gospel music. He believed that the “Make it last Forever” album by Keith Sweat was the best album ever made. Walter loved playing cards, especially spades and tunk.  His favorite sports teams were the San Francisco 49’s, Detroit Pistons, and Detroit Tigers. Walter loved to BBQ and his specialty was ribs. His favorite color was red.

 Walter was preceded in death, along with his parents, by James and Rosa Bell Thomas his grandparents-in-law.

 He leaves to cherish fond and loving memories to his loving, faithful and beloved wife of 29 years, Valerie LeGardye; his cherished children, Brandon Keith (Kellie) LeGardye, Aaron Keith LeGardye, and Jordan Levon LeGardye all of Boiling Springs, SC; grandchildren, Madden Kade LeGardye, Ma’liyah Richardson, Dreyahna Nesbitt and Laila Levon Adams; sisters, Marion Legardye of Texarkana, AR, Gwen LeGardye of Charlotte, NC and Teresa LeGardye of Flint, MI; brothers, O’Neal LeGardye, Jr. of Shreveport, LA and Llewllyn (Anita) LeGardye of Flint, Michigan; sisters-in-law, Stephanie R. Taylor of Taylors, SC and Deanna (Hasker) Hudgens of Greenville, SC; aunt, Ezerene (Louis) Williams of Pinebluff, AR; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, customers and friends.

On the morning of Monday, April 10, 2023, Walter’s full life came to a close. His kind and loving spirit will be forever etched in the thoughts and memories of all who knew him.
