The Most Reverend James Wiley, Jr. Obituary

His Eminence,The Most Reverend James E. Wiley, Jr. was born on July 26, 1970, to Deacon James E. and Linda Wiley of Goldsboro, NC.  Bishop Wiley was raised and instructed in the way of holiness in the Apostolic doctrine. In his younger years, his parents noticed his giftedness in the area of music. At the tender age of two, he began playing the drums; by the age of eight, he embraced the piano and organ. At the age of twelve, he added the bass and lead guitars to his many instruments.

On October 11, 1984, Bishop Wiley realized that he needed a savior. As a result, he surrendered his life to the Lord Jesus Christ. He was baptized in Jesus’ name and received the baptism of the Holy Ghost.

After many years of faithful services in the music ministry, Bishop Wiley received his calling into the gospel ministry in July of 1987. He preached his initial sermon at Christ Rescue Temple Apostolic Church under the leadership of Bishop Willie Davis, Jr., on January 10, 1993. His message was entitled, “There is no stopping me now”, taken from Romans 8:38-39. He was ordained as an elder in the Lord’s Church in July of 1995 during the Holy Convocation of the United Churches of Jesus Apostolic.

Bishop Wiley was a well-sought-after preacher and musician and traveled extensively throughout the United States. Many have been blessed by his ability to minister in both music and preaching. Bishop Wiley connected with the New Jerusalem Rebirth and Restoration Ministries, Inc. in the year of 2005 under the auspicious leadership of his Apostolic Father, the late Bishop Zavier H. Terrill, Sr. He served as the Minister of Music and the Ministerial Administrator. While serving the ministry there, God spoke to Bishop Wiley and told him to go and establish the Liberty Temple Church of Deliverance, Inc. and in September 2006, the church began worship services.  Through the ministry of Bishop, many have received deliverance, restoration, and healing.

In 2008, during Holy Convocation Bishop Wiley was designated to the episcopacy. On June 26, 2010, Bishop Wiley was duly consecrated and received Apostolic Succession, from His Eminence, Bishop Zavier H. Terrill, Sr., Chief Apostle of the Rebirth and Restoration Fellowship Ministries International, Inc. Then, in 2010, the Lord led Bishop Wiley to start the United Churches of Deliverance Apostolic International, which is an Anglican Apostolic Communion with episcopal structure that teaches and the apostolic doctrine and oneness of the Godhead. UCODA is CHARISMATIC in expression, PENTECOSTAL in experience, APOSTOLIC in doctrine and KINGDOM CONNECTED, UNITED as ONE! In 2019 Bishop Wiley submitted to the Apostolic Covering of Bishop Liston Page, Sr. and the Greater Highway Deliverance Ministries.

He leaves to cherish fond and loving memories with his parents, James and Linda Wiley, Sr., children; James Edward Wiley, III, Kimberly Wiley, and Joseph Wiley; siblings, Amanda (Darryl) Brooks Woody, Cassandra (Phillip) Dublin, Jesse Wiley, Rosanne (Jonne’) Wiley-Hayes,  and Candace (Justin) Thomas;  uncles, William (Bonnie) Wiley, John (Clara) Whitfield, Leslie Whitfield,  Michael (Patricia) Whitfield, Timothy (Cynthia) Whitfield, and Dwayne (Donna) Whitfield; aunts, Eulah Wiley, Shirley Whitley, Carolyn Holder,  Evelyn (Woodrow) Wilson, and Dorothy Blackmon; step-children; Briana Cherry, Aliyah Cherry, and Joe Bryant, III godson, Christopher Ross; and a host of nephews, nieces, spiritual sons and daughters, episcopal sons, and other relatives and friends.

On the morning of Tuesday, September 13, 2022, God brought to close a full life of ministry and service. Bishop Wiley now has received his “Well-done” thou good and faithful servant…Enter thou into the joy of the Lord”.

His legacy of love, ministry, music, holiness, Greater Liberty Temple of Deliverance, and United Churches of Deliverance Apostolic will forever be remembered throughout the annals of time. We give God praise for the life of His servant, Bishop James Edward Wiley, Jr.
