Mr. Richard Thomas Hines was born, on April 8, 1965, to Georgia Mae Wardlaw, the late Pearl Collins Hines and the late Tom Rice, in Spartanburg, SC.
Richard was a good man who truly loved his family, especially his grandchildren. He was known as a “dancing machine” and was friends to everyone. He also walked a lot and it didn’t bother him to walk almost everywhere he needed to go. Richard was employed at Tulip Tree Restaurant. He attended Spartanburg High school and the Pittsburg Steelers was his favorite NFL team.
Those left to cherish fond and loving memories are daughter, Latasha (Kevin) Dendy of Spartanburg, SC; sisters, Martha Gladden, Margaret Elaine Harris, Daisy Wardlaw, Geneva Copeland, Bobbie Higgins, Thomasina (Tyrone) Singletary all of Spartanburg, SC, Faye (John) Smith of Inman, SC and Yvonne Henderson of Greenville, SC; brothers, John (Elaine) Rice and Lonnie C. (Sharon) Huff all of Spartanburg, SC; aunts, Lillie Mae Murphy of Spartanburg, SC and Margo Smith of Philadelphia, PA; uncle, Milton (Melissa) Smith of Spartanburg, SC; grandchildren, Jaquon Miller, Jamie Jeter, Basia Byrd and Akeelah Byrd; great grandchildren, Zaylin Miller and Zy’Arra Miller; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
On March 13, 2023, Richard Thomas Hines transitioned. His life and legacy will live on with those who knew and loved him.
