Minister Jerry Dean Hill, Sr. was born on September 7, 1941, to the late Myrtle Vernon Hill, the late Luke Jackson, and the late George Hill, in Spartanburg, SC. He was educated in the Spartanburg County school system. He was a licensed minister and a lover of quartet music. His favorite color was red, and he was an avid Carolina Panthers fan. Jerry was known for his humor and wit and was known as the “Jokester” of the family. In his later days, he was noted for his encouraging words. He was a proud member of New Image Christian Ministries.
Jerry was predeceased by his wife, Mary Mayo Hill; daughter, Tina Rogers; son, Jerry Dean Hill, Jr.; grandson, Dwight Fitzgerald Rogers; and life partner the late Patricia Coker.
He leaves to cherish fond and loving memories to his children: Rex Hill (Shakeysa Baker), Terrance (Erica), Jackson, Fred (Phyllis) Hill, Martin (Tracy) Pringle, Candace (Adrian) Cathcart, Tracy (Darryl) Harper, and Paula (Keith) Finnie; siblings: Barbara (Richard) Mills, Wesley (Bridgette) Hill, Georgia Porter, and Jimmy Hill; daughter-in-law Stephanie Hill; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, wife, Frances Burton Hill, and other family member and friends.
On Sunday, December 18, 2022, Minister Hill passed to the care and keeping of his loving Savior. His infectious humor, loving heart, and kind and gentle spirit will be cherished by those who loved and knew him. We praise God for a life well lived and a journey completed.
