Mary Frances Glenn, was born on January 23, 1931, to the late Jim Sims and the late Agnes Morman, in Union County. She was educated at Union County schools.
Mary was married to Mr. David Lee Glenn, Sr. for 64 years. And to that union 10 beautiful children were born
Mary was a long-time member of Thompson Chapel Baptist Church and in recent years was a member of Com’ Promising Praise Worship and Deliverance Temple. She was a deaconess and member of the sympathy club.
Mary was preceded in death, along with her parents, by siblings, Lilie Mae Hunter, Johnny Sims, Jimmy Sims, Roosevelt Sims and Wallace Sims; and son-in-law, Coby Wilkins.
Mary was a jokester and comical person. She loved her family immensely. Mary was an excellent cook and was known for her fried chicken. She was a wiz at checkers and enjoyed watching soap operas. Mary’s favorite colors were black and ivory.
Her life, love and legacy will be remembered and cherished by her surviving husband, David Glenn, Sr. of the home and her sons, David (Beverly) Glenn, Jr., of Chesnee, SC, Jimmy Lee Glenn of Spartanburg, SC, Reverend Samuel Glenn of Landrum, SC, William Douglas Glenn of Cherry Hill, NJ, Reverend Tyrone (Angela) Glenn of Spartanburg, SC and Daniel Lee (Latreese) Glenn of Lyman, SC; daughters, Minister JoAnn Wilkins of Spartanburg, SC, Pastor Jeanette Glenn of Spartanburg, SC, Minister Jackie Blassingame of Spartanburg, SC and Evangelist Joyce (Darren) King of Irmo, SC; fifty-four grandchildren and great grandchildren; one special niece, Delois Farr; god-daughter, Deloris Washington; adopted daughter, Tina Woodruff-Earl; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
On the morning of Wednesday, October 4, 2023, Mary transitioned to be with the Lord. Her jovial and loving spirit will continue be a beacon of light for her family and friends.
