Logan Wellsley Cope was born on April 4, 1944, in Saint James, Jamaica to the late Richard Cope and late Maun Lamey. He attended schools in Jamaica and once he came to Spartanburg, SC he began working in textiles as a loom operator. Logan enjoyed watching wrestling and he especially favored Rick Flair, that is until Roman Reigns came along.
Left to cherish his memories are his beloved wife, Clara “Sylvia” Cope of the home; his daughters, Marsha Sherrod of Tampa, FL, Kaolyn “Kaye” Cope, Oklahoma City, OK, Peggy Rice and Lisa Johnson both of Spartanburg, SC; a son, Bobby (Tanya) Smith, Jr. of Long Island, NY; sisters-in-law, Shirley Wilkins of Newburgh, NY and Sarah Wilkins of Newark, NJ; a brother-in-law, Calvin Smith of Wellford, SC; grandchildren, Travis Smith, Shamika (Darnell) Moore, Rodrick Smith, Shanniqua Smith, Anayah Smith, Caitlin Cope, and Deja Sherrod; nine great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
Along with his parents, Logan was preceded in death by brothers-in-law, McKinley Wilkins and Monroe Smith, Jr.; and sisters-in-law, Marzella Peake Melvin, and Bertha Whyte.
On Wednesday, January 17, 2023, Logan Wellesley Cope, surrounded by his family, peacefully transitioned from his earthly home to his eternal home.
