Jacqueline Francis Payden, affectionately known as “Jackie”, was born on July 26, 1952, to Mildred Louise Means Hutchinson and the late Arthur Hutchinson, in Spartanburg, SC. Jaqueline was educated in Spartanburg County schools and was a member of Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church.
Jacqueline had a very sweet spirit and was very talkative. She enjoyed spending her spare time talking on the phone to her family and friends. It is noted that she knew almost everyone and never met a stranger. Jacqueline had a deep and endearing love for her family. In high school, she played basketball and she enjoyed bowling as well. Her favorite color was burgundy.
Jacqueline was preceded in death, along with her father, by grandmother, Edna Means and brother, Ernest Logan.
Her legacy and love will be cherished by her loving mother, Mildred L. Hutchinson of Spartanburg, SC; son, Frederick K. Means of Spartanburg, SC; daughters, Kimberly Y. Means of Spartanburg, SC and Angela A. Thompson of Boiling Springs, SC; brothers, James Means and Bobby Rhinehart both of Los Angelas, CA; sisters, Ann (James) Gist, Linda Sortor and Mert Rhinehart all of Spartanburg, SC; grandchildren, Asheley Hull, Jimar Means, Lacreisha Means, Simyia King, Connelius Thompson and Dee Thompson; great-grandchildren, K’Arei Hull, A’Nijah Farr, Jameria Means, Jamarcus Means, Arrius Foster, Glayden Fields, Alaya Copeland, Jace Thompson, Skylar Thompson, Joycelyn Means, and Yasir Thompson; god-brother, Freddy Palmer; special friend, Viola Perry; daughter-in-love, Janice Stampley Allen; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Jacqueline departed this life on the evening of Friday, September 29, 2023, at the Spartanburg Hospital for Restorative Care. Her loquacious spirit and kind heart will be sincerely missed.
