Eugene Smith Obituary

Eugene O’Neil Smith was born on December 11, 1951, to the late Margie Moore Smith and the late Robert Charles Leonard Smith, in Campobello, SC.  He was educated in Spartanburg County schools. He furthered his education at Spartanburg Technical College and received an Associates in Mechanics. He retired from Mohawk Industries after being a weaver for many years Eugene was a member of the Unites States Army Reserve.

Eugene placed family above all else. He had an endearing love for his family a would do anything to ensure their happiness and success. Eugene also had a passion for cars and in his spare time he would often be found tinkering with them.  He also enjoyed solving crossword puzzles and playing solitaire. Eugene had a very peaceful manner and that is noted as one of his most notable traits.

He was preceded in death, along with his parents, by his loving life partner, Joanne Hall; son Kenny Miller; uncles, Curtis Smith, Ralph Smith Harvey Moore, Ralph Moore, Robert Moore, Sr. and James Smith; aunts, Ann Moore, Juanita Moore, and Barbara Ruth Moore.

He leaves his precious memories to daughter, Elaine M. Hall of Campobello, SC; grandchildren, Brianna Hall, Ke’Nya Brooks, Tre’ Von Brooks, and Des’ Monae Suber; aunts, Hattie B. (James) Smith, Annie Jackson, and Carolyn Smith, and Mary Smith; and host of other relatives and friends.

Eugene transitioned at his home on Monday, March 11, 2024. He will be sorely missed by his family and friends.
