Douglas Wilkins, affectionately known as “Doug”, was born on March 29, 1953, to the late John Wilkins and the late Lena Mae Padget, in Spartanburg, SC. Doug was a graduate of Chapman High School. He retired from the Magna Company. Doug was a member of Greater Bible Way Tabernacle.
Doug was an avid walker. He loved watching tv, especially the western Gun Smoke. While watching tv, Doug would give play by play action to those who were around him. He never met a stranger and was extremely loquacious and comical. Doug was a Pittsburg Steelers fan who loved a cigarette, a cup of coffee, and cold Pepsi.
Doug was preceded in death, along with his parents, by wife, Joanne Wilkins; siblings, Johnny Wilkins, Roy Wilkins, Tom Wilkins, Jesse Jackson, and Reverend Wallace Wilkins.
He leaves fond and loving memories to sons, Dr. Douglas Adrian (Farrah) Wilkins of Patterson, NJ, Elder Gregory Wilkins of the home, and Reggie (Jennifer) Wilkins of Campobello, SC; brothers, Broadus (Sylvia) Wilkins of Boiling Spring, SC, and James Wilkins of Inman, SC; sister, Elder Betty Kelly of Inman, SC; grandchildren, Haley (Nicholas) Mead, Isaiah Gregg, Mason Wilkins, and Carter Wilkins; great-grandchildren, Eden Mead and Sophie Mead; special friends, Marcelette Robinson and Linda Littlejohn Johnson; and host of other relative and friends.
On Saturday, September 23, 2023, Doug transitioned peacefully at his home. He will be sorely missed by his family and friends.
