Dianne Logan Long was born on March 26, 1952, in Spartanburg, SC, to the late James William Logan the late Katherine Logan. She was educated in the Spartanburg County School system and was a 1970 graduate of Carver High School. She continued her education at South Carolina State University where she received a Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education and later received a Master’s degree in education.
Dianne was formerly a teacher at Hendrix Elementary School and had an enormous love for children. She was a doting educator and took immense pride in ensuring her students excelled educationally.
Dianne was a loving mother and grandmother and was noted for being outspoken. She had a giving and generous heart and thoroughly enjoyed traveling. Dianne was a Carolina Panthers fan and her favorite colors were black and purple.
Dianne was a member of the Majority Baptist Church where she served as a trustee, Sunday school teacher, Soaring Eagles Summer Camp Director, Girl Scout Troop Leader, Majorityette, and choir member. She was also active in the Carver High School Alumni Association and the South Carolina State University Alumni Association.
Dianne was preceded in death, along with her parents, by her grandson, Ayden Gist.
Her legacy and love will be both cherished and celebrated by her daughters, LaToya (Damean) Long Gregory of Roebuck, SC and Monisha Long of Spartanburg, SC; grandchildren, Logan Johnson of Spartanburg, SC, Kennedy Gist of Roebuck, SC, and Kinsley Gregory of Roebuck, SC; god-sisters, Cynthia Swanson and Alice Thompson-Dowling; devoted friends, Betty Saxon, Margarette Bell Miller, and Doris Anderson; Carver High School Class of 1970; and host of other relatives and friends.
On the morning of Saturday, September 2, 2023, Dianne heard the Master say, “Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.” Her life and legacy will be forever cherished by all who loved and knew her.
