Chrisie Ann Lyles, aka “Pat”, was born on November 26, 1950, to the late J. Earl Wheeler, Sr. and the late Nellie Mae Wheeler. She was born in Greenville, SC raised in Spartanburg, SC and educated in Spartanburg County Schools.
Mrs. Lyles loved her church, Kingdom Builders Baptist Church of Spartanburg, SC, and faithfully served on the Usher Board, Pastor’s Aid Ministry, Sunday School Ministry, and as a Missionary.
She liked to garden and watch old-school western shows on the television, Her favorite snack was animal cookies. Mrs. Lyles enjoyed gathering with her family, cooking her famous macaroni and cheese, and dancing around to old-school Motown hits, but she especially loved gospel music. She was partial to the color yellow.
Those left to cherish Chrisie’s memories are her husband, Lee Arthur Lyles of Spartanburg, SC; two daughters, Tamara Makupson of Spartanburg, SC and Lisa Marie Lyles of Little Rock, AR; two sons, Terry Lee (Lisa) Lyles and Cedric Lyles both of Spartanburg, SC; three sisters, Gracie (Dennis) Scandrett of Nashville, TN, Loretta Bomar and Chenita (Major) Owens both of Spartanburg, SC; one brother, James A. (Debra) Jones of Spartanburg, SC; two honorary daughters, Latoya Stallings and Rebecca Webster of both of Spartanburg, SC; 14 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; six step-daughters, Audrey Chambers, Natlie Chambers, Lavonia Chambers, Nicole Chambers, Evette Chambers, and Colette Chambers all of Spartanburg, SC; one stepson, Willie Chambers of Spartanburg, SC; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Along with her parents, Chrisie was preceded in death by one sister, Joyce Wheeler; three brothers, J. Earl Wheeler, Jr., John B. Wheeler, and Walter Rogers; one great-granddaughter, Shania Lyles and her eldest grandson, Marlo Ferguson, Sr.
On Sunday, July 24, 2022, with her family present to bid her farewell, Mrs. Chrisie Ann Lyles departed to a place where every day will be like Sunday.
