Chadwick Douglas Tate

Chadwick Douglas Tate was born on July 8, 1985, in Spartanburg, SC, to the late Jerry Wells and the late Jacqueline Leak.  He was called “Chad” by his family and friends.

He graduated from Spartanburg High Spartanburg School where he played football and received many trophies and recognition as a valued player.  He was a hard worker, an outgoing and humorous man who loved his family dearly.  He enjoyed attending family gatherings and loved aunt Martha’s cooking. Green was his favorite color and the Washington Red Skins was his favorite football team.

Left to cherish fond and loving memories are his children, Caiyden, Cameron and Cari Jeter-Tate and their mother, Porsha Joseph and Winter Murphy and her mother, Ashley Murphy; brothers, Avery Leak and Christopher Leak both of Alexandria, VA; sister, Jenne “Tasha” Lovelace of Alexandria, VA; aunts, Jeanette Stripling of Landrum, SC, Elizabeth Leak and Abigail Leak both of Alexandria, VA; a beloved maternal godparent, Martha Moss of Spartanburg, SC; close cousins, Joshua Stripling, Benjamin Jackson, and Sonya (Jamaal) Walker all of Spartanburg, SC; and a host of other loving family members and friends.

“Chad” was preceded in death, along with his parents, by maternal grandparents, Jack and Lillie A. Leak; brothers, Benjamin Tate Lucus and Wesley Tate Lucus.

On Friday, January 20, 2023, Chadwick “Chad” Douglas Tate passed away into the care and keeping of our loving Father. He will be missed from this earthly home by all who loved and knew him.
