Ms. Brenda Kay Brown was born on April 7, 1957, in Spartanburg, SC, to the late Betty Jean Brown. She attended Evans High School. Brenda enjoyed playing softball with the People’s Choice team and was very humorous. In her pastime, she enjoyed solving crossword puzzles and braiding her hair. Brenda enjoyed “cutting the rug” on the dance floor and was a member of Joe Tex. It is noted that you always knew she was in the room because of her very large personality. Brenda’s favorite color was purple and she was a member of Mt. Nebo Baptist Church.
Brenda was preceded in death, along with her mother, by son, Norman Brown; brothers, Danny Brown, Freddie Brown, and Gary Brown.
Her love and legacy will be cherished by daughters, Trina Brown (Kory) Gamble of Lyman, SC and Yolanda Brown (Marcus) Hairston of Greenville, SC; son, Donald Brown of Spartanburg, SC; sisters, Norris (Pernell Sullivan) Brown and Joyce Brown (Bobby) Gist both of Spartanburg, SC; brother, Kenneth Moton of Atlanta, GA; aunts, Martha Coleman, Mary Ann Durham, Virginia Brown, Dorothy Hawthorne, Viola Durrah, Linda Byrd, and Debra Robinson all of Spartanburg, SC; uncles, Leonard Brown of Spartanburg, SC and, Robert Caldwell of Warner Robins, GA; grandchildren, Joseph Brown, Jevonte Mahoney, Sierra Hairston, Marcus Hairston, and Mar”Kaiya Hairston; great-grandchild, Ja ‘Vonni (Genesis) Mahoney; great aunt, Lucy Steen; special cousin, Zealina Jeter; special friends, Jeffery “Lil Bit” Webster and Elizabeth Dawkins; and a host of nieces nephews, other relatives and friends.
On the evening of Saturday, July 8, 2023, Brenda transitioned at her home with family at her side. Her comical and enormous spirit will echo throughout time.
