Mrs. Blanch Louise Fannie Copeland Wood was born on March 25, 1939, to the late Tim and Martha Pea Copeland in Asheville, NC. She was educated in the Asheville County school district and graduated from Stephen Lee High School.
Blanch was known as a prayer warrior; a mother of Zion (she’d often call people in from the street to pray for them), and she was well-loved and respected in the community for this great deed. She loved to sing, and she was a great cook, as well as a talented seamstress; she tailored all of “Preacher Wood’s" suits. Blanch loved her Lord and His church. She was a devoted servant and served as a member of the Senior Choir, the Tables of Colors, and the Mother Board.
She was preceded in death, along with her parents, by her beloved husband, Raymond “Preacher Wood", Sr.; a daughter Rhonda Wood; and two sisters, Beulah Summey and Elizabeth Mills.
She leaves to cherish fond and loving memories with two sons, Raymond Wood, Jr. and Randall (Valerie) Wood both of Spartanburg, SC; three daughters, Betty Darity of Asheville, NC, Angie W. Miller of Spartanburg, SC, and Sheila Wood of the home; a brother, Ezell Copeland of Asheville, NC; two sisters, Arizona Timbers and Mary Jane Sams both of Asheville, NC.; eleven grandchildren, Brandon Wood, Jessica Darity, Chris Crawford, John Darity, Kendra Darity, Anthony Black, Jr., Brittany Darity, Malik Williams, Jordan Wood, Joshua Wood, and Randall Keith Wood; 13 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
On April 23, 2022, Blanch Louise Fannie Woods finished her race on earth and crossed the finish line into glory.
