Ms. Yvetta Hughes, affectionately known as "Vet", was born on September 9, 1956 to the late Evelyn Wilkins and the late Spurgeon Wilkins, in Detroit, MI. "Vet" was a member of New Hidden Hill Baptist Church. She attended Spartanburg County schools Mary H. Wright Elementary, Carver Jr. High and Spartanburg High School. She was a previous employee of Wofford College Culinary Support and a long-time caregiver.
In her spare time, she enjoyed spending time with family (especially her grandchildren), cooking for family and neighbors, watching her favorite TV shows, and bible study.
She was proceeded in death by her brother, Rickey Wilkins.
Left to cherish fond and loving memories are her daughters, Micko Hughes and Angela Hughes both of Inman, SC; brothers, Chucky (Sherba) Wilkins, Retney Wilkins, and Barney Wilkins; sisters, Beverly Jones and Crystal Wilkins both of Spartanburg, SC; grandchildren, Tytianna Hughes, Rakaejha Landrum, Ashanta Hughes, Raheim Landrum, and Bobby Webster all of Spartanburg, SC; great grandchildren, King Hughes, Skylar Webster, Kassidy Webster, Da'Kari Webster, and Reign Hughes all of Spartanburg, SC; forever best friend, Michael Hughes of Spartanburg, SC; step-daughters, Maria Pendergraph, Amber Leak, and Kira Pendergraph, all of Spartanburg, SC; aunt, Patricia Davis of Spartanburg, SC; uncle, Henry Proctor of Richmond, Virginia; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, neighborhood kids, and friends.
Yvetta Hughes passed on July 2, 2024, at the Spartanburg Medical Center. Her life and love will forever be cherished by her family and friends.
