Victor Shirley Tobin, affectionately known as "Go Go", was born November 18, 1934, to the late Samuel Curtis Tobin and the late Mary Louise Sims, in Arcadia, LA. He enlisted in the United States Air Force and served four years. Victor was very sociable and loved music, especially R&B. He enjoyed watching westerns and was very talkative. Victor's favorite football team was the Carolina Panthers and he was a past member of the Ace of Spades social club. In his spare time Victor enjoyed playing cards.
Victor was a custodian in Spartanburg District 7 school for a plethora of years. He was also noted for his shoe shining business and was even featured in the Spartanburg Herald Journal.
He was preceded in death, along with his parents, by a sister, Ozoneva Killion and a special friend, Carolyn Tucker.
Left to cherish his fond and loving memories are daughters, Georgia Johnson of Spartanburg, SC, Barbara (Herbert) Jones, Jr. of Spartanburg, SC and Vicki Johnson of Duncan, SC; brother, Charles Baker of Centralia, IL; sisters, Deborah (Charles) Fletcher of Centralia, IL and Pamalia Baker of Sylmar, CA; uncle, James Sims of Clinton MD; grandchildren, Paul A. Smith, Wylissa (Allen) Burris, Anthony Johnson, Jr., Latasha Jones, and Herdricka Jones; great-grandchildren, Joshua Smith, Nehemiah Smith, Leah Smith, Syana Perry, Ava-Marie Burris, and Maddax Wheeler; great-great-grandchild, Brooklyn A. Smith; and a host other nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
On the afternoon of Monday, July 22, 2024, Victor transitioned peacefully at the Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. He will forever be cherished and remembered by his family and friends.
