Veronica Leigh Vernon Harris, "Susie", was born on November 24, 1973, to Nellie Vernon and the late Paul S. Vernon, in Spartanburg, SC. She was educated in Spartanburg County Schools and was a 1993 graduate of Spartanburg High School. She furthered her education and received an associate degree in culinary arts. She was the owner and operator of a catering service called Rose of Sharon.  Veronica also operated an in-house daycare and she cared for many children over the years. She joined Greater Bible Way Tabernacle Miracle Temple at a young age.

Veronica had a heart full of love that she was willing to share with all whom she met. She had a friendly, but stern, personality and was very outspoken. Veronica was also known for her spontaneity. Her Kemet name was Sharifa, which means lion and she embodied all those bold characteristics.

Veronica was preceded in death, along with father, by grandmothers, Drucilla Vernon and Rosa Canty; nephew, Markeith Tracy-Vernon; aunt, Bessie Philson; father-in-law, George Harris; and uncle, Lawyer Scott.

She leaves cherish her fond and loving memories to her loving husband, Brian Harris of the home; mother, Nellie Vernon of Inman, SC;  sister, Tracie Browning of Inman, SC; brothers, Anthony (Shaaron) Vernon of Spartanburg, SC and Marion Vernon of Duncan, SC;  beloved godchildren, Keshana Briggs, Amaya Mingo, and Shania Davis; cat, Keanu; best friends, Anita Gaines and Anita Briggs; and host of aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives, and friends

On the evening of Saturday, June 3, 2023, she transitioned peacefully at the Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. Her bold and loving spirit will surely be missed.
