August 12, 1931 – October 18, 2024
Vernice Virginia Thompson was born, on August 12, 1931, to the late Jessie Mae Linder Teamer and the late Vernon Bernard Teamer, in Richmond, VA. She was educated in Spartanburg County schools and graduated from Benjamin E. Mays High School in Pacolet, SC. She worked many years as a CNA at Mountain View Nursing Home.
Vernice was an outstanding person and was the leader among her sisters. She loved to cook and clean. She possessed an endearing love for herself and her family and a special love for her children and grandchildren. She lived by what was written in the Bible and wanted everyone else to live circumspectly. Vernice was a strong lady and her favorite color was Navy Blue. She was a member of Majority Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death, along with her parents, by husband Elbert Reid Thompson; brothers, Henry Teamer and William Teamer; and sisters, Novella Mitchell, Wilma Dawkins and Deliah Williams.
Left to cherish her fond and loving memories include sons, Elbert (Elaine) Thompson, Jr. and Micheal Thompson both of Spartanburg, SC; daughters, Thelma Teamer and Sandra Smith both of Spartanburg, SC; brother, John (Vivian) Teamer of Spartanburg, SC; sisters, Allene Martin of Spartanburg, SC and Roszonia Oglesby of Cowpens, SC; brother-in-law, Joe Dawkins; grandson reared in home, Joshua Swindler; grandchildren, Kenitra Jones, Tasha McKinney, Rashod McKinney, Lanisha Geter, Michelle Teamer, Mark Teamer, Desmond Owens, Tammy Woods, and Michael Woods; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
On Friday, October 18, 2024, Vernice transitioned peacefully at the Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. She will live on in the hearts and minds of her family and friends.
