IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Thurmond
Glover
May 16, 1942 – March 29, 2025
Thurmond Glover, affectionately known as "Slim," was born on May 16, 1942, in Campobello, SC, to the late George Glover and the late Wyola Copeland Glover. He was a proud graduate of Mary McLeod Bethune High School in Inman, SC.
Thurmond had a variety of interests, including fishing, quilting, and gardening. He found joy in working in the garden, often listening to country and rhythm & blues music while tending to his plants. Despite his quiet nature, Thurmond was known for his thoughtfulness and kindness. He was always ready to lend a helping hand and remained deeply attentive to his siblings throughout their lives.
Among his many hobbies, Thurmond enjoyed watching Westerns, with Gunsmoke being one of his favorite television shows. As a child and young adult, he also played baseball. His favorite foods included coffee and vanilla ice cream, and he had a particular fondness for the color blue, in all its shades. Thurmond became a member of the New Pilgrim Baptist Church at a young age and remained committed to his faith throughout his life.
Thurmond was preceded in death by his parents and siblings: Elvonia Lynun, Robert Glover, Harden Glover, Pernicia Burton, and Jackie Biles.
He leaves behind his beloved sister, Emma G. March of Kissimmee, FL, as well as a host of nieces and nephews: Brenda Simpson, Derrick Lynum, Diane Glover, Jerry Glover, Janie Glover, Freddie Glover, Wayne Glover, Kevin Carr, Keith Carr, Kenneth Carr, Debra Carr, Margaret Yates, Sandra Dandy, Johnny Burton, Terance Glover, Simeon Biles, Adrian Biles and Paulette Baker, who shared in the joy of growing up with him.
On March 29, 2025, Thurmond peacefully transitioned at Prisma Health Greenville Memorial Hospital. His life was one well-lived, and his legacy will always be remembered with love and admiration.
