Thomas Major Walker was born on June 6, 1943, in Spartanburg, South Carolina, to the late Bertha Glenn Walker and the late Thomas Lee Walker. He was educated in the Spartanburg County School System and dedicated over thirty years of loyal service to Beaumont Mills before his retirement. He also worked at Draper Corporation for over 30 years and also Beacon Drive.

Thomas was known for his sense of humor and his incredible talent in the kitchen, where he was especially famous for his delicious homemade biscuits. He loved children—especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren—and was a true family man who found joy in spending time with loved ones, fishing, and going on cruises. A devoted Dallas Cowboys fan, his favorite color was red. Thomas was a faithful member of Macedonia Baptist Church and an active participant in the Arkwright Community Association, until his health declined.

He was preceded in death, along with his parents, and his wife Laura Walker by his siblings Russell Glenn, Joe L. Glenn, Fred Walker, Johnny Glenn, Blake Glenn, Clarence Glenn, Rosa Lee, Ruby Alexander, Annie R. Walker, and Catherine Walker; his children Cynthia Young and Anita L. Walker; and his granddaughter Tamesha Henderson.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving children, Thomas (Ann) Walker of Spartanburg, South Carolina; Rhonda M. Walker of n Norfolk Virginia; Joyce A. Walker-Anya of Spartanburg, SC; Hattie Wright of Spartanburg, South Carolina; Lawanda (Glenn) Wright-Smith of Spartanburg, South Carolina; and Preston Wright of Spartanburg, South Carolina. He also leaves behind his devoted sisters, Mary Means of Spartanburg, South Carolina, and Frances Walker of Clinton, South Carolina; special friends, Leon Brewton and Lydia Collier; and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends who will forever treasure his memory.

After an extended illness, Thomas peacefully transitioned from this life at Spartanburg Medical Center on Saturday, October 225, 2025. Though he will be deeply missed, his legacy of love, laughter, and family devotion will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
