Thomas Edward Long was born on August 14, 1960, to the late Clough Long and Dorothy Pearlie Singleton Long in Spartanburg, SC. He was educated in the Spartanburg County schools and was a proud 1978 graduate of Dorman High School.
Thomas worked for many years at Tietex and H & M Small Engines until his retirement. Later, he returned to work at Pen Printing.
A music enthusiast, Thomas loved listening to gospel and old-school R&B. He was a talented musician who played the drums, guitar, and organ. In his spare time, he enjoyed watching football, especially cheering on his beloved Dallas Cowboys, and spending time fishing. He was also known for being an excellent cook.
He leaves to cherish his loving memory his devoted wife, Margie Cooper of the home; sons, Daniel Anderson of Spartanburg, SC, and Terrance (Danielle) Long of Blacksburg, SC; brothers, Ervin "Sonny" Long, James (Geneva), Long and Erskine (Jacqueline) Long all of Spartanburg, SC; and one sister, Christy Long of Spartanburg, SC; grandchildren, Jaxon long, Scarlett Long, Natalie Carter, and Brooklyn Anderson; stepmother, Texie Long; aunts, Helen Nesbitt, Annie Singleton, and Sally (Reverend William); Jones; along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends who will miss him dearly.
On April 21, 2025, Thomas departed this life at Spartanburg Medical Center. Thomas will be remembered for his love for music, his warmth, his incredible cooking, and the joy he brought to all who knew him.
