Scottie Garner was born on August 3, 1955, in Spartanburg, SC, to the late Perry Foster and Juanita T. Nash. He was educated in Spartanburg County schools and attended Spartanburg High School. A hardworking man, Scottie spent many years employed in the textile industry. He worked at Mayfair Mill and later at Leigh Fibers, where he served as a material handler.
Scottie was a quiet and reserved man who found joy in the simple things in life. Beneath his quiet nature was a caring heart, especially when it came to his family. He shared a particularly special bond with his mother. His love for her was evident in the care, kindness, and attention he consistently showed her.
In his leisure time, Scottie enjoyed watching sports, especially football and baseball. He was a devoted fan of the New York Yankees and the Dallas Cowboys and could often be found enjoying a game. He also loved playing spades, a pastime that provided many enjoyable moments with family and friends.
Scottie was preceded in death by his father, Perry Foster; brothers, Bruce Garner and Alexander Nash; and stepfather, George W. Nash.
Left to honor his life and cherish his memory are his mother, Juanita T. Nash; daughter, Tysheika Jones of Spartanburg, SC; siblings, Chavis Garner, Sheila Wilson, and Kim Nash, all of Spartanburg, SC; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
On September 1, 2026, Scottie peacefully transitioned from this life at his home. Though his quiet presence will be deeply missed, those who knew and loved him will remember his caring spirit, his devotion to family, and the many simple moments that made his life meaningful. His memory will remain in the hearts of those whose lives he touched.
