Mrs. Sarah Lee Cunningham Anderson's Story

Sarah was born, on June 26, 1924, in the town of Cross Hill which is located in Laurens County, in South Carolina, as the12th child, to the late Sallie Boyd and the late Jerry Cunningham. She was the last living sibling of 14 children.

The Cunningham family moved to Woodruff, in Spartanburg County, in 1936. Sarah attended public school and joined Switzer Mount Zion Baptist Church at an early age where she served as a deaconess, until her health failed.

Sarah was the devoted wife of the late Manuel Lee Anderson for 38 years. They were the proud parents of 13 children. She has lived in the College Park Community for 55 years, where she is known by all. Sarah was a former member of the College Park Sympathy Club and held several offices.

Sarah enjoyed cooking, gardening, especially her flowers and sewing. In the last years, she also enjoyed doing her puzzle books and watching Me T.V. Her wisdom and quick answers were always a source of joy and laughter. She greatly enjoyed the daily visit of her children, her grandchildren of 4 generations, nieces, nephews and her neighborhood children and friends. Sarah lived for 10 decades and God allowed her to keep her mind, mobility, and independence until the last hour of her earthly life.

She will be remembered with so much love by her seven sons, Samuel (Lornell) Cunningham of Asbury Park, NJ, Emanuel (Volencia) Anderson of  Irvington, NJ, Kenneth (Catherine) Anderson, Thomas Anderson, George (Andrea) Anderson, Alvin Anderson, and Stephen (Carol) Anderson, all of Spartanburg, SC; two daughters, Rosa Linda (Roger) Meminger of Brooklyn, NY, and Stephanie A. McDowell, of Spartanburg, SC; sister-in-law, Janie Anderson Harden of Hiram, Ga; very special first cousin, Ms. Johnny V. Brown of Clinton, SC; 26 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, 20 great-great grandchildren, 2 great-great-great grandchildren. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

He who does all things well and make all things work together for the good of those that trust Him. On Friday, September 20th, 2024, He chose to call Sarah Lee Cunningham Anderson from her earthly home to her eternal home at the age of 100.

In addition to Jesus, her parents, husband, and siblings she was welcomed into her now heavenly home by her children, Marion Anderson, Delois Anderson, Mariah C. Morris, and Hardy Salters. Her grandchildren, Warren Donnell McDowell, Jr., Shirlette Hunter, Ah'Keem Spear and Jonathan Meminger.

Sarah, Mama, Ma, Granny, Sarah Lee, Aunt Sarah and Mrs. Anderson will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved her.
