Ronnie Jonathan Lewis was born, affectionately known as "RJ', was born on August 14, 1950, to the late Rufus Lewis and the late Lucinda Geter Lewis, in Spartanburg, SC. He was a 1969 graduate of Benjamin E. Mays High School. Ronnie was married fifty years to the love of his life, Ruth Ann Dawkins Lewis.
In his spare time, Ronnie enjoyed Fishing and hunting rabbits and squirrels. He was talkative in nature and never met a stranger. Ronnie also had a drag car that he raced in local races. Outside of the love for his wife and family his biggest joy was trucking. He was a truck driver for a plethora of years and most recently with Walmart Transportation. He would often boast of over three million miles without an accident. As a result of this incredible feat he was awarded a blue truck, blue being his favorite color, that he was able to customize himself.
Ronnie's favorite team was the Raiders of Los Angelas and Oakland
He was preceded in death, along with his parents, by siblings, James B Geter, Michael Lewis, Gary Lewis, Linda Lumpkin, and Patricia A. Lewis.
Ronnie leaves a lifetime of love and memories to his faithful and committed wife, Ruth Lewis of the home; daughters, Stacy Lewis and Alishia Lewis both of Spartanburg, SC; sister, Carol (John) Whiteside of Greer, SC; aunt, Annie Lou Geter of Detroit, MI; special nephews, Andre ( Dekeya) Lewis of Nashville, TN and Austin Whiteside of Greer, SC; special nieces and nephews, Carey Lumpkin, Vanetra Means, Casidy Lumpkin, Gary Lewis,Tonya Lewis, Ashley Lewis, Benjamin Geter, Traci Bates, Antonion (Joyce) Smith and Amber Platt; and host of other relatives and friends
On Wednesday, February 7, 2024, Ronnie transitioned from life to eternal life. His loquacious and loving spirit will continue to be a source of comfort and solace to his family and friends.
