Obituary

Ronnie Booker was born on October 29, 1956, in Spartanburg, SC, to the late James Pitts and the late Margaret Booker. He was educated in the Spartanburg County School District and continued his education at Rutledge College. From an early age, Ronnie discovered a passion for cooking, a gift that would become both a career and a lasting legacy.

He served his nation in United States Army and was honorably discharge after many years of service.

Ronnie was a notable chef who worked with many restaurants throughout the city of Spartanburg. Known for exceptional culinary skills, he was especially recognized for catering, where attention to detail and flavorful creations left lasting impressions on all who experienced his work. Cooking was more than a profession it was an expression of creativity, joy, and a love for bringing people together.

A natural jokester, Ronnie had a contagious sense of humor and took great pleasure in making others laugh. His lively personality was matched by a love for music and movement. He enjoyed dancing, listening to old school music, staying active through working out, and practicing martial arts. He also enjoyed action movies, was a devoted Carolina Panthers fan, and favored the color black.

Ronnie was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, John Booker, Ruby M. Crawford, and Annie Owens; and niece, Polly Booker.

Left to honor and cherish a life well lived are fiancée, Jimmie Kay Bland of the home; children, Ronnie Booker Boyd, Jr. and Jaron Booker, both of Spartanburg, SC; siblings, Maudy Richard, Margaret Booker, and Mary Freeman, all of Spartanburg, SC, and James (Benita) Booker of Greenville, SC; four grandchildren; one great grandchild; mother-in-law, Carrie Bland; sisters-in-law, Willie R. "Daffy" Norman and Sandra (James) Jackson; along with a host of other relatives and dear friends.

Ronnie transitioned peacefully at the Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home on December 29, 2025

. A life marked by laughter, passion, and purpose has ended, but the memories, love, and joy shared will remain forever. Ronnie will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
