Robert Douglas Bivings, affectionately known as "Doug", was born on March 13, 1959, to the late Odell Bivings and the late Annie Laura Means Bivings, in Spartanburg, SC. He was educated in the Spartanburg County School system. He attended Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church. Robert was kindhearted and loved his family.

He was preceded in death, along with his parents, by brothers, John Wesley Bivings and Boyce Lee Bivings.

His memories will be treasured and honored by brothers, Willie James Bivings of Gastonia, NC, Jessie Lewis Bivings of Spartanburg, SC, and Stanley (Jackie) Bivings of College Park, GA; sister, Margie Bivings Williams of Spartanburg, SC; aunts, Joanne Jones, Georgia Bivings, and Josephine Means all of Spartanburg, SC; uncle, Larry Means of Spartanburg, SC; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

On the morning of Saturday July 1, 2023, Robert transitioned at his home. His loving spirit will live on in the hearts and minds of his family and friends.
