Reverend David Oneal Vernon Twitty was born on November 18, 1963 to the late Creston Eugene Vernon and the late Annie Bell Lowrance in Inman, SC. He was educated in the Spartanburg County school system. He was a licensed minister and an amazing singer.  Reverend Twitty was a member of the Mt. Sinai Baptist Church in Gaffney, SC. He was also a Mason. He was always fashionably dressed and was known for his deep and endearing love for God and his family.

He leaves to cherish his fond and loving memories to daughters, Shanneka Gist of Spartanburg, SC, Ashley (Robert) Vereen and Chelse Twitty both of Charlotte, NC; son, Travis Twitty of Charlotte, NC; sisters, Alma (Billy) Thompson of Spartanburg, SC, Pauline( Earnest) Suber and Theresa (Steven) Dodd both of Greer, SC, Resa Blackmon of Gastonia, NC and Annette Vernon of Charlotte, NC; brothers, Irving Twitty of Spartanburg, SC, William Twitty of Inman, SC, Preston Vernon of Charlotte, NC and Earl Vernon of Gaffney, SC; grandchildren, Dae`Jhun Dillingham, Timothy McNeil, Jr., Jasmine Lyles, Na`Siah Grant, Khamyla Twitty, Trinity Twitty, Cayden Twitty, Dereon Battle, Elias Twitty, Damari` Battle all of Charlotte, NC and Arrellious "Ray Ray" Kelley of Spartanburg, SC; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

He was preceded in death, along with his parents, by three sisters and four brothers.

On Saturday January 22, 2022, Reverend David Oneal Vernon Twitty exchanged his cross for his crown. He was welcomed into the eternal presence of God where he can sing His praises forevermore. His life, love and legacy will forever be cherished by all those who loved him.
