Ramel Annette Lyles, affectionately known as "Mel", was born on May 1, 1963, in Spartanburg, South Carolina, to the late Annie Lee Lyles Nash and Charles Nash. She was educated in the Spartanburg County Schools and graduated from Dorman High School. She furthered her studies at Spartanburg Community College and was employed as a mail clerk at Adidas.
In her younger years, Ramel had a deep love for arts and crafts. She enjoyed watching television, especially old school cartoons, and she spent countless hours playing computer puzzle games such as Candy Crush and Tetris. She also loved trying to solve mysteries and was always intrigued by a good puzzle.
Ramel was a true sweetheart, known for her warm embrace, gentle nature, and humble spirit. She loved all colors and carried a brightness in her personality that matched her vibrant spirit. She was a faithful member of the Church of God of Prophecy, in Hobbysville, South Carolina.
She was preceded in death, along with her mother, by her aunt and uncle, Leroy and Annie Bell Casey Lyles, who helped to raise her; her grandparents, Victor and Minnie Nash; her uncles, Victor Nash and George Nash; and her aunt, Lillie Bell Jackson.
Left to cherish the memory of Ramel Annette Lyles, along with her father, are son, Lazaro (Somary Chhay) Lyles of Spartanburg, South Carolina; siblings, Charvez Nash, Reverend Darrell (Tonya) Smith, Ernest (Deena) Smith, Michael Hughes, Jeffrey Burney, Elder Ray Burney and Terri (Dennis) Wheeler; aunts, Rebecca Lyles of the home, Grace Barksdale and Minnie Peake of Pauline, South Carolina; uncles, Ernest Nash of Chesnee, South Carolina, Nathaniel Nash (Shirley) of Union, South Carolina, Curtis Nash (Minnie) of Spartanburg, South Carolina, and Deso Nash of Pauline, South Carolina. Also cherishing the memory is grandchild, Ayden A. Alford Lyles of Clayton, North Carolina; best friend, Wendy Golden; along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
On Monday, November 24, 2025, Ramel Annette Lyles transitioned at her home. Her warmth, her sweetness, and her peaceful spirit will forever remain in the memories of those who knew and loved her.
