(Whiteside) Rowland
February 1, 1949 – October 2, 2025
Pearley Mae Rowland was born on February 1, 1949, to the late Theressa Carson Whiteside and the late Harrison Franklin Whiteside, in Spartanburg, South Carolina. She was educated in the Spartanburg County School System and was a proud graduate of Foster Grove High School. Pearley was united in marriage to James Rowland. She retired from Spartanburg High School after thirteen years of dedicated service as a janitor.
Pearley was a kind-hearted and friendly woman who loved playing the drums and enjoyed good conversation. She was known for speaking her mind and for her straightforward spirit. She loved watching westerns, and her favorite color was blue. She was of the Baptist faith.
She was preceded in death, along with her parents, by her siblings, Harold Whiteside, Herman Whiteside, and Preston Whiteside.
Left to honor her life and legacy include her husband, James Rowland of the home; son, Odell (Jessica) Thompson of Boiling Springs, SC; siblings, Madolla Hull of Chesnee, SC, Raymond (Linda) Whiteside of Union, SC, and John (Betty) Whiteside of Chesnee, SC; seven grandchildren; best friend, Niecy Hurst; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
On the morning of Thursday, October 3, 2025, Pearley peacefully transitioned at Inman Healthcare. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
