April 9, 1919 – January 5, 2024
Otto Jenell Harper was born, on April 9, 1919, to the late John Harper and the late Josephine Sims Harper, in Newberry, SC. She was a graduate of Cumming Street High School.
Otto had a comical and bubbly personality. She was a village mother and took care of all of her family members, blood and adopted. She was very family oriented and enjoyed spending quality time with each of them. Otto was an incredible cook. Cooking delectable meals was her passion and her favorite colors were lavender and lime green.
Otto, alongside her father John Harper, founded the Greater Trinity AME Church. She was a life member and thoroughly enjoyed worshipping there when her health permitted. She was a member of steward board, choir, and was also a missionary.
She was a member of the VFW.
Otto leaves a lifetime of love and memories to grandsons, Demorris Chambers of the home and Eric Chambers of Spartanburg, SC; niece reared in the home, Josephine Chambers of Spartanburg, SC; godson and caretaker, Sean Wallace of Spartanburg, SC; and a host of other loving nieces, nephews, and friends.
On Friday, January 5, 2024, at the age of 104, Otto transitioned to be at rest. Her full life and loving legacy will be a source of strength and comfort to all who love and knew her. A life well lived and her journey completed.
