Nelson Bland was born October 24, 1960, to the late George Bland and the late Mary Alexander, in Johnston, SC. He was educated in the Spartanburg County schools and worked as a grader for the Morgan Corporation for over twenty years.

Nelson was known as "the life of the party" and loved his daughter immensely. He his spare time he enjoyed fishing, family gatherings, playing cards, watching westerns and crime shows. Nelson loved music of all kinds and enjoyed playing and entertaining children. His favorite color was orange.

Left to cherish his fond and loving memories are one daughter, Jessica (Andrea Campbell) Bland of Spartanburg, SC; stepdaughter, Renae Holbert of Spartanburg, SC; four grandchildren; sister, Lala Mae Geter of Spartanburg, SC; brother, George (Earline) Bland, Jr. of Woodruff, SC; and a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

He was preceded in death, along with his parents, by a sister Betty Bland.
