IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Nathaniel
Johnson
March 10, 1946 – April 14, 2025
Nathaniel Johnson was born on March 10, 1946, in Spartanburg, South Carolina, to the late Sallie Mae Murphy Johnson and the late Robert Lee Johnson. He was educated in the Spartanburg County school system and later earned his GED.
Nathaniel was a man who loved the great outdoors. He found joy in yard work and was a true lawn mower enthusiast. A passionate hunter, he especially enjoyed hunting rabbits and squirrels. A lover of old school music, Nathaniel was also a skilled mechanic who took great pride in his work. His dedication to fitness and wellness led him to become a martial arts practitioner, and in his leisure time, he could often be found at the pool hall enjoying a good game.
An avid sports fan, Nathaniel enjoyed watching both football and tennis. His favorite colors were hunter green and navy blue which are reflective of his earthy, bold spirit.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his loving daughters, Natalie Johnson and Kisha Johnson, both of Spartanburg, SC, and Shalonie (Jaye) Dawkins of Cowpens, SC; brother, Ricky (Mary) Johnson of Spartanburg, SC; sisters, Inez Gilree, Margie Oglesby, and Sherry Parham, all of Spartanburg, SC; grandchildren, Myiah Smith, Austi Black, Lorenn Gaines, Jayce Dawkins, Brenton Black, and Harlynn Dawkins; great-grandchild, Josiah Bowens; former wife, Brenda Dawkins Fields; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Nathaniel will be remembered for his strength, his passions, and the love he shared with his family and friends.
