IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Melanie Arnette
Floyd
October 19, 1962 – July 26, 2025
With grace, laughter, and a heart full of love, Melanie Floyd, affectionately known as "Melly Mel," was born on October 19, 1962, in Spartanburg, South Carolina. She is the beloved daughter of Gladys Boozer Floyd and John Floyd.
Melanie spent her formative years in Delray Beach, Florida, where she graduated from Atlantic High School. She went on to further her education at the distinguished Bethune-Cookman College of Daytona Beach, FL, where she cultivated her gifts and deepened her commitment to learning by earning a Bachelor's Degree in Sociology. She was employed as a Social Worker at the Department of Social Services.
Melanie was a radiant soul whose presence exuded warmth, joy, and authenticity. Her smile was unforgettable, her humor unmatched, and her heart immeasurably kind. She had a special love for children and an extraordinary ability to make others feel welcomed and uplifted. A true people person, she was the life of every gathering and a steady light in the lives of her family and friends.
A loyal and passionate fan of the Carolina Panthers, Melanie's game-day spirit was as bold as her love for those around her. She was a faithful and devoted member of Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, where her faith was both practiced and lived through service, fellowship, and love.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Margie Boozer and Edward Boozer and paternal grandparents, Lilian Floyd and J.C. Floyd.
Left to cherish her fond and loving memories, along with her parents, are her sisters: Marilyn Pitts of Spartanburg, SC, Janie Benson of Evanston, IL and Kimberly Miller of Augusta, GA; Also surviving are her brothers: Johnny (Myra) Floyd of Greer, SC, Kevin (Bonita) Miller of Atlanta, GA, Johnathan Floyd of Greenville, SC, Justin Floyd of Spartanburg, SC and Anthony Woodruff of Spartanburg, SC; nieces: Mykeva Floyd and Ebony Floyd; nephews: Antonio Floyd and Johnny Floyd, Jr.; great nieces: Tyrienna Thompson and Selah Branch; great nephews: Jayden Wilkins and King Floyd; and a host of other great nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends; a special cousin, Melinda Gladden; and her godson, Jahmir Gladden.
On July 26, 2025, Melanie transitioned peacefully at the Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her, but her legacy of joy, compassion, and faith will live on forever in our hearts.
