Kenneth Arnell Johnson was born on December 24, 1964, in Spartanburg, South Carolina, to Bessie Ruth Gilliam and the late Charles Otis Johnson. He was educated in the Spartanburg County school system and graduated from Spartanburg High School in 1983.

Kenneth was full of life, a fun-loving jokester who brought joy to those around him. He had a deep love for food and a strong devotion to his faith. A lifelong fan of soap operas and cooking shows, he found comfort and entertainment in the simple pleasures. Kenneth was a devoted member of Bible Way Miracle Tabernacle Church for over 40 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Keith Johnson (twin) and Milton Gilliam; and grandparents, Mattie and Ike Gilliam.

Left to cherish his fond and loving memory are brothers, Bo (Marilyn) Gilliam of Yadkinville, NC, and Rick Gilliam of Columbia, SC; sister, Zora (Timothy) Johnson-Cohen of Boiling Springs, SC; aunt, Suzon Durham of Spartanburg, SC; best friend, Priscilla Porter; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

On the evening of Sunday, May 18, 2025, Kenneth transitioned peacefully at Spartanburg Medical Center. He will be sorely missed and lovingly remembered.
