Obituary

Mrs. Judy Ann Jenkins was born November 19th, 1949, in Spartanburg, SC to the late Jacie Emma Susan Hill and the late Stonewall Foster, Sr. She was educated in the Spartanburg County schools and was a graduate of Benjamin E. Mays High School. On November 21, 1968, she wed Willie James Jenkins, and from this union two daughters were born. As a devoted military wife, she faithfully supported her husband throughout his service, embracing the responsibilities and sacrifices that accompanied military life with strength and grace.

Judy was a master seamstress for more than forty years. She was the proud owner and operator of Judy's Sewtique, which operated in several locations throughout Greensboro and High Point, North Carolina. Through her talent and dedication, she built a reputation of excellence and creativity in her craft. Judy was also known for being extremely precise and meticulous in everything she did. Whether in sewing, baking, or daily life, she believed in doing things with care, excellence, and attention to detail.

Judy enjoyed baking and was affectionately known for her delicious apple cakes, strawberry cakes, Key Lime cakes, and her famous pound cakes, which family and friends always look forward to enjoying.

She was a very classy lady who was always color coordinated and well put together. Judy carried herself with elegance and grace. She also cherished time with her special group of friends known as the Friday Ladies. For more than 10 years they gathered every Friday for lunch or brunch, often going to see a movie and enjoying cocktails together. These moments of fellowship and laughter were very dear to her.

Judy loved old school music and enjoyed dancing. She deeply loved her children and grandchildren and treasured every moment spent with them. She also enjoyed relaxing at home watching westerns with her beloved husband.

She was a member of Serenity Life With Jesus Ministries where she served faithfully as a Deaconess in Training and worked with the Pastors Aid Ministry, Benevolence Ministry, and the Hospitality Ministry.

She was preceded in death, along with her parents, by siblings, Harold Foster, John L. Foster, Curtis Foster, Jimmie Foster, Dennis Foster, Jean Foster Smith, Hattie M. Foster Byrd, and Raeford Foster; adopted parents, Louise Merrell and Auzheal Merrell; And adopted siblings, Auzheala Bryan and Sharon Merrell.

Left to cherish her loving memories are her devoted husband of fifty seven years, United States Navy Retired Lieutenant Commander Willie James Jenkins of the home; children, Tonya Jenkins (Steven) Greene of Fuquay Varina, North Carolina and Tiffany and (Terence) Staggs of Boiling Springs SC; siblings, Jerome Foster of Pacolet, South Carolina, Aldra (Brenda) Foster of Jonesville, South Carolina and Stonewall Foster, Jr. of Pacolet, South Carolina; grandchildren, Taylor Greene, Monai (Dilan) Mendez, Brenson Greene, Brooklyn Staggs, Emma Staggs, and Aaron Greene; Friday Ladies, Belinder (Bobby) Twitty, Dorothy (Zion) Patrick, and Sarah Lark; adopted sisters, Peggy Clement and Janice Stuckey; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends.

On Sunday, March 8th, 2026, Judy peacefully entered eternal rest. Her life was a beautiful reflection of grace, strength, love, and dedication to those she held dear. She leaves behind the legacy of elegance, kindness, and cherished memories that will forever live in the hearts of her family, friends, and all who were blessed to know her.
