IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Joy Annette
Mccoy
September 4, 1962 – June 11, 2025
Joy Annette McCoy was born on September 4, 1962, in Spartanburg, South Carolina, to the late Geraldine McCoy and the late Roy McCoy. She received her education through the Spartanburg County School System and was a proud graduate of Byrnes High School. For many years, Joy worked in the textile industry, where she was known for her strong work ethic and dedication.
Joy was a happy, loving, and considerate woman who always put others before herself. Her warm presence, infectious smile, and kind spirit lit up every room she entered. She deeply cherished time spent with family and friends, never leaving a loved one's presence without expressing her signature words: "I love you." A devoted fan of the Carolina Panthers, Joy also favored the color navy blue. She was a faithful member of Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Geraldine and Roy McCoy; and siblings, Tina McCoy, Bernice McCoy, Terrance McCoy, David Jones, and Roy McCoy.
She leaves to cherish her precious memory: her loving son, Bryant (Anitra) McCoy of Gaffney, SC; her devoted companion of over twenty years, Bobby Rookard; sisters, Lola McCoy and Darlene (Kent) Anderson, both of Wellford, SC, and Machelle (Marshall) Gregory of Lyman, SC; aunts, Eva Smith and Lola Jones, both of Inman, SC; grandchildren, Isaiah McCoy, Brylon McCoy, Bryson McCoy, Brianna Dawkins, and Raya Montgomery; special nieces, Latoya McCoy, Tekiria McCoy Hailey, Tiesha Jones, Kerrianna Durham, Tatiana Durham, Asia Gregory, Ashley Anderson, Brittany Anderson, and Amaya Durham; nephews, Case Gregory and Craig McCoy; along with a host of great-nieces, great-nephews, other relatives, and many dear friends.
On the evening of June 11, 2025, Joy transitioned peacefully at Prisma Health Greenville Memorial Hospital. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
