IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Johnny
Cunningham
September 24, 1949 – August 30, 2025
Johnny Lee Cunningham was born, on September 25, 1949, in Ninety-Six, South Carolina, to Janie B. Foster and the late Harley Oliver. He received his early education in Spartanburg County Schools and was a proud graduate of Carver High School. With a determination to further himself, he went on to pursue certifications in HVAC, Machine Engineering, and Horticulture.
A man of many talents and interests, Johnny was well known for his skill at the pool table, earning the reputation of being a true pool shark. He was also the community's trusted handyman and mentor, always ready to lend a hand, share wisdom, or bring laughter with his unforgettable humor. His love for life was evident in his passion for the Washington Commanders, and he was especially fond of the color blue, which reflected his vibrant personality.
He was preceded in death, along with his father, by his son Brian L. Douglas.
Left to cherish his memories are his loving mother, Janie B. Foster of the home; sons, Reggie (Jacquelyn) Diggs, Morty (Caretha) Diggs, John Ferguson, Rashad Thacker, Cedric Lyles, and Ken Ferguson; daughters, Vastyne Reese, Cortina (Quincy) Evans, Marsha (Raymond) Wallace Boyd, Chantae Teia Rice, and Ashley Stinson; twenty-two grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; his special longtime friend, Frances Bell; and a host of cherished nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends.
On the morning of Saturday, August 30, 2025, Johnny transitioned peacefully at the Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. His departure leaves a void in the hearts of many who knew and loved him. Johnny's laughter, his helping hands, and his love for people will be remembered for generations. Truly, he will be deeply missed.
