John Lewis Moore, Sr. was born, on February 26, 1952, to the late Ola Lewis Moore and the late Luther Cecil Moore in Brooklyn, NY. He was educated in Spartanburg County schools and a 1970 graduate of Carver High School. He was a railway engineer for ten years until his retirement.

He was an avid fisher and enjoyed hosting and entertaining family and friends.  John loved swimming particularly high diving. He also enjoyed watching boxing and attending Spartanburg High School Vikings football games. His favorite color was red.

John was preceded in death, along with is parents, by siblings, Dorothy Moore Peoples, Margaret Coleman, and Luther Moore "Bill", Jr. and son, Juan Carlos Moore.

Those who remain include his wife, Evelyn Artison Moore of the home; sons, Preston Tehran (Shalya) Moore and John (Catterace) Moore, Jr. both of Spartanburg, SC; grandchildren, Juan Carlos Moore, Jr., Amyria Moore, Amarion Moore, Jjuan Moore, Nilah Moore, and Nasiah Moore; sister, Elaine (Bobby) Moore- Williams of Spartanburg, SC; bestfriend, Tyrone Coleman; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

On the morning of Sunday, November 17, 2024, John transitioned peacefully at the Spartanburg Medical Center. He will be missed by his family and friends.
