Mr. John Henry Brewton, Sr. was born to the late Geneva Legg Brewton and Roosevelt Brewton on February 2, 1938, in Spartanburg, SC.  John was educated in Spartanburg County schools.  He retired from Leigh Fibers where he was employed as a forklift driver.  His favorite NFL team was the Dallas Cowboys.  John was a member of Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church. He was also a Mason.

Left to cherish loving memories are his wife, Joann Henderson Brewton of the home; daughters, Wanda Kay Brewton Irby (James), Shelia Marie Brewton Gory (Terry), Angela Denise Brewton Bridges, Mary Lisa Brewton Lewis, and Joyce Ann Brewton all of Spartanburg, SC; son, Robert Albert Brewton of Greenville, SC; stepdaughters, Debbie Miller and Charlene Miller both of Boiling Springs,  Charlette Miller of Wellford, SC and Jackie Miller of Campobello, SC; sisters, Catherine Styles and Vineta Roseburgh both of Spartanburg, SC; brother, Calvin Brewton (Bertha) of Charlotte, NC; twenty-one grandchildren; forty-six great-grandchildren; a special godson, "MJ"; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Along with his parents, John was predeceased by: sons, John Henry Brewton, Jr. and Christopher Brewton; a daughter, Shyrell B. Copeland; granddaughter, Keshia Brewton; sons-in-law, Marion Bridges and Eugene Lewis; sisters, Mary Riddick, Rosie Neuble, and Rosa Mae Petty; brothers, Casey Brewton, Henry W. Brewton, Jerry Brewton, and Roosevelt Brewton.

On January 13, 2022, John transitioned without notice to be at rest forevermore.  His love and memory will always be in the hearts and minds of his family and friends.
