IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jerome
Brown
April 30, 1946 – August 9, 2025
Jerome Brown was born, on April 30, 1946, in Grifton, North Carolina, to the late Annie Mae Lynch Brown and the late William Brown. From his earliest days, Jerome carried a quiet strength and a gentle spirit that would leave an impression on everyone he met.
He received his education in the Spartanburg County school system and was a 1964 graduate Bethune High School. Jerome went on to devote more than forty years of faithful service as a custodian at Chapman High School. His dedication, reliability, and pride in his work were deeply appreciated by faculty, staff, and students alike.
Jerome was a man who found joy in the simple things of life. His pleasant demeanor and easygoing nature made him a friend to many. He loved music, delighted in traveling, and enjoyed the excitement of sports, especially NASCAR. His favorite color was blue, and he took pride in being a committed member of Zion Hill Baptist Church, where his faith was a guiding light in his life.
Jerome was preceded in death, along with his parents, by his wife, Edith Pilgrim-Brown; siblings Harold Brown, Gloria Brown, a Christine Holloway, and nieces, Tonynia Evans and Keshia Brown.
Left to cherish his fond and loving memory includes his son, Phillip Wallace; sister, Florence (Joseph) Brown-Smith; nephews, Richard McCoy, Antonio McCoy, and Travis Brown; and a host of other relatives and friends who will remember him with deep affection.
On Saturday, August 9, 2025, after an extended illness, Jerome peacefully transitioned from this life at the Magnolia Manor Nursing Home. Though his presence will be missed, his love, laughter, and kindness will continue to live in the hearts of all who knew him. His life was a gift, his memory a treasure, and his legacy, one that will endure for generations.
