Mr. James Andre Proctor, known to most as "Proc", was born on September 3,1975 to Sally Mae McDaniel Proctor and the late James Milton Proctor in Spartanburg, South Carolina.  He was raised by his grandmother Alma Nancy Proctor. He was educated in the Spartanburg County school system and obtained a GED. James was a licensed master barber and was a co-owner and co-founder of the J L Grooming Lounge.  He was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church.

He leaves to cherish his fond and loving memories to his wife, Kizzy Smith Proctor of Moore, SC; mother, Sally Mae McDaniel Proctor of Spartanburg, SC; stepson, Tyquan Smith of Spartanburg, SC; sister, Ida Proctor (John "Travis") Johnson of Moore, SC; brothers, Ta'Varris Proctor of Greenville, SC and Jamarcus Simuel  of Spartanburg, SC; aunts, Valda (James) Slade, Gwendolyn Means, Mary Palmer, and Geraldine McDaniel all of Spartanburg, SC, Josephine (Curtis) Lawrence of Brooklyn, NY,  and Ailene Fullerwinder of Inman, SC; uncles, Al Proctor, Anthony Proctor, Matthew McDaniel, and Charles McDaniel all of Spartanburg, SC; grandson, JaQuez "Tootman" Smith; nieces, Kariana Collins and Michaela Moore; nephew, Milton Proctor; a special cousin Gail Whitmire; godsons whom he groomed; and a host of other cousins, co-laborers and friends.

James was preceded in death by his father, James Milton Proctor; son, James Andre Proctor, Jr.; grandparents, James Willis Proctor, Lila Mae Proctor, Annie Belle McDaniel, and Allen Matthew McDaniel; and great-grandmother, Alma Nancy Proctor.

On Tuesday, January 18, 2022, James laid down his golden clippers to receive his golden slippers. His legacy of love, barbering, cordial demeanor, and kind spirit will live on in the hearts and memories of all who loved him.
