Isabelle Turner Fowler was born on September 17, 1931, in Mayo, SC, a peaceful beginning to a life that would one day resonate through generations. She was the beloved daughter of the late Mary Humphries Turner and the late Myles Turner. From her earliest days, she carried a spirit characterized by grace, resilience, and quiet strength.

She was educated in the schools of Spartanburg County, establishing a foundation not only in knowledge but also in discipline and determination that would guide her throughout her life.

She was united in holy matrimony with the late Ellis Fowler, II. As a wife, mother, and matriarch, she built a home rooted in love, faith, and steadfast care. Her life’s work extended beyond her household, as she faithfully served for 25 years with Abbott Laboratories, where her diligence and integrity left a lasting impact.

Isabelle loved the Lord sincerely, shaping every part of her life. Mt. Moriah Baptist Church was more than just a place of worship; it was her spiritual home, where her presence was felt across numerous ministries. She was a dedicated member of the September Birthday Club, Usher Board, Thursday Morning Bible Study, Women’s Choir, Sanctuary Choir, SPIN Ministry, and Helping Hands Ministry. Her faith was not only spoken but lived every day in how she loved, served, and exemplified her beliefs.

She found joy in simple, meaningful things. She enjoyed watching Christian television, nourishing her spirit with God's Word. She had a green thumb and a deep love for flowers, caring for them with the same tenderness she showed to people. She was athletic and active, having participated in bowling and golf teams, and she maintained that same energy and enthusiasm throughout her life. As a devoted fan of the Los Angeles Dodgers, she admired their pioneering role in integration and cheered proudly for the University of South Carolina women’s basketball team. Her favorite color, purple, reflected the royalty she carried within her spirit.

Beyond her church, Isabelle was actively involved in her community. She was a proud member of the Eastern Star and the Dreamers Social Club, where her presence brought light, wisdom, and fellowship.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ellis Fowler, II; daughter, Octavia Fowler; and siblings, Nora Norris, Mary R. Lattimore, Carrie Turner, Deanie Hardy, Ernest Turner, Larry “LT” Turner, William Turner, and Sammie Turner.

Her cherished survivors include her loving children: Thomas (Rhoda) Fowler of Inman, SC; Etta Irby of Spartanburg, SC; Patricia (Loretto) Mockabee of Cowpens, SC; Ellis (Sherry) Fowler III, Annie R. Johnson, and Tammie (Rusher) Foster, all of Spartanburg, SC; and a nephew raised as a son, Samuel (Sheryl) Turner of Hinesville, GA. She also leaves her brother, James “JW” Turner of Jacksonville, FL; 20 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; her special friend, Lionell Harmon; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends she loved dearly.

On a peaceful Sunday evening, March 29, 2026, Isabelle transitioned at home, surrounded by her family’s love. She left this life as she lived it—wrapped in grace, rooted in faith, and embraced by those she poured into.

Her story does not end here. It lives on in every seed she planted, every life she touched, and every heart she nurtured. Her legacy of love, strength, faith, and quiet excellence will be forever cherished by all who knew and loved her.
