Henry Sims, Sr. was born on April 22, 1933, in Union County, SC, to the late Molly Henderson and Arthur Sims. He was educated in the Union County school system and later united in marriage to the late Georgeanna Sims. From this loving union, five children were born. Henry dedicated more than thirty years of faithful service to Overnight Trucking, now known as UPS.
Henry was a man of quiet strength, humility, and generosity. He found great joy in fishing, boating, and spending time doing the things he loved most. Known throughout the community for his exceptional skill in checkers, he earned numerous awards and accolades and proudly served as president of a local checker club. He also enjoyed watching boxing and cheering on his favorite baseball team, the Atlanta Braves. Above all, Henry was a kindhearted and giving man whose presence brought comfort and wisdom to those around him. He was a devoted member of At His Feet Ministries.
Along with his parents, Henry was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Georgeanna Sims; daughter, Mattie Philson; siblings, Dolphus Sims, David Henderson, Jack Henderson, Tom Henderson, Ellwillie Gambrell, Mittie Dogan, and Roosevelt Sims; granddaughter, Keyona Sims; and great great granddaughter, Kinslei Sims.
