Henry Belvin Mitchell was born on September 11, 1938 to Ethel Ward and Robert Pryor, in Cochran, Georgia.  He was educated in the Bleckley county schools.

Mr. Mitchell served in the US Armed Forces from January 11, 1962 until September 10, 1964 and was honorably discharged.  In addition, was awarded the Appreciation for Veterans Certificate..

Henry retired from the US Postal Service after 40 years of service. During his tenure, he received many postal awards and upon retirement, a certificate acknowledging 30 years of Government Service.

He was a faithful member of the Elks of Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Those left to cherish loving memories are his wife, Jean Danzy Mitchell of Greenville, SC; one daughter, Debra Mills of Greenville, South Carolina; two brothers, Bobby Pryor of Hampton, Virginia and Beecher Pryor; five grandchildren, Tralonna Mitchell and Kaiyana Thomas, both of Fort Worth, Texas, Gregory Barnes, Jr. of Denver Colorado, Gerald Mitchell of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Gabriele Harper of Havelock, North Carolina; eight great grandchildren, Taniya Mitchell, Malique Glenn, Serenity Brock, and Mia Ceaser all of Fort Worth, Texas, Gregory Barnes, III and Cairo Hatuey Barnes both Denver, Colorado, Precious Barnes of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Zylius Mitchell of Phoenix, Arizona, Kaizah Canton of Havelock, North Carolina; a host of other relatives and friends.

Henry was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents and one daughter, Cecelia Mitchell, one sister, Jerri Young and one brother, Ralph Harris, Sr.

On Wednesday, May 5, 2021, Henry departed from his earthly home and entered the gates to his eternal home.
