Gregory Louis Jones, a.k.a. "Preston", was born , on May 28, 1961, to the late Richard Jones, Sr. and the late Bernice Jones, in Lorain, Ohio.  He was known to be very passionate by providing guidance in raising his children and grandchildren with the best in excellence, respecting your parents, elders and those who rule over them.  He really stressed the importance of education.  Greg was highly energized in expressing and revealing his heart and the love he had for his family, especially his unfailing and unconditional love for his children ad grandchildren.  He would talk and even cry about profusely about them.  His passion of love couldn't be measured.  He provided the best opportunities for them way before they were born.  He decided the best future for them would be in joining the military.  He served for four years and received an Honorable Discharge.  Greg bragged about his success in the military and all of the things that were offered.

His personality was outstanding; he would bring people together in laughter.  Greg was known for lots of funny jokes and pranks.  Greg enjoyed playing pool and basketball, which he did daily.  He loved to look good and he dressed in suits and dress shoes every day.  When he did wear jogging suits and tennis shoes, he wore the best. He had a winning and captivating smile.   Greg was very active in participating in the community, the Urban League, Social Justice Activism and a father figure to many.

Greg was predeceased, along with his parents, by a son, Kareem Ali Nadin Jones, Sr.; brothers, Richard Jones and Michael Woodruff; and sister, Sharon Calloway.

Those left behind include sons, Gregory Louis Crocket of Columbus, OH and Shem Josiah Brown of Columbus, OH; daughters, Arikka Marie Wright of Larain, OH and Asia Crocket of Columbus, OH; brother, Timothy Jones of Lorain, OH, Eddie (Pamela) Jones of Elyria, OH, Terry Jones, Sr. of Lorain, OH and Brian Jones (Courtney) Books of East Liver Pool, OH; sisters, Patricia Beckwith of Columbus, OH, Vanessa "V" Baker of Cleveland, OH, Carol Ann (William) Holt of Elyria, OH, Hattie (William) McElsa of Springfield, OH, Jackie Thomas of Lorain, OH and Teresa (Tony) Books of Lorain, OH; 17 grandchildren including, Mariah Zhane' Jones, Kareem Ali Nadin Jones, Jr., Jaid Isaiah Jones, Karim  Ali Nadin Jones.

Greg was a God fearing man who was desperate for the word of God to give him peace and comfort.  He transitioned on Sunday, January21, 2024.  He will be sorely missed by family and friends.
