IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Florence Patricia
Houey
January 8, 1950 – August 20, 2025
Florence Patricia Houey, affectionately known as "Pat," was born January 8, 1950, in Gaffney, South Carolina, to the late Hattie C. Dukes and the late John Wesley. She received her early education in Cherokee County Schools and graduated proudly from Gaffney High School.
Pat devoted many years of faithful service at INA USA, where she worked as a machine operator until her retirement. She was known as a woman of strength, outspoken in truth, yet deeply devoted to God. Her life was marked by prayer, generosity, and her love for people. Truly, she was a prayer warrior and a vessel of encouragement.
Pat, or "Auntie" as she was affectionately called, was a hard worker who also found joy in simple pleasures. She loved cooking, bowling, and being surrounded by people. Her vibrant personality shone through in conversations, laughter, and worship. Singing and praising God were her greatest joys.
Her favorite destination was Florida, where she found peace in the beach, the water, and the freshness of the air. She often encouraged others to experience the beauty of Florida at least once in their lifetime.
Above all, her sons, Peter and Shannon Houey, were her greatest gifts from God. They were her pride and joy, and she considered motherhood the happiest season of her life.
Pat was preceded in death by her parents, Hattie C. Dukes and John Wesley; sons, Peter Houey and Shannon Houey; and siblings, Betty Parker, Geraldine Edwards, Ruby Dukes, Freeman Camp, Annette Balkcom, Catherine Houey, and Brenda Phillips.
She leaves to cherish her memory her beloved her devoted sisters, Mary Dukes of Spartanburg, SC Janie Littlejohn of Spartanburg, SC, Janie Webb of Spartanburg, SC, and Kathy Fullenwider of Spartanburg, SC; her best friend, Macy Anderson; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended relatives, and friends who will forever treasure her love, laughter, and legacy.
On August 20, 2025, Florence transitioned peacefully at Spartanburg Medical Center. She will be dearly missed by her family, friends, and all who were touched by her life.
