Evelyn Salters was born on April 24, 1952, in Spartanburg, SC, to the late Beatrice Nesbitt Smith and the late Robert Smith. She was educated in Spartanburg County schools and graduated from Bethune High School. Evelyn retired from Smith Drugs as an assembly technician.
Evelyn had an enormous heart and was very loving. She was also caring and giving but, most of all she loved God. God was the center of her life. She was a babysitter for many children, and she thoroughly enjoyed loving and nurturing children in her care. In her high school years she excelled in basketball and as result she had a great loved for the sport. In recent years she could be found cheering on the basketball teams at Chapman High School. She was known for famous chicken salad and her favorite color was pink.
She was a proud life member of Greater Bible Way Tabernacle where she served on the following ministries, senior choir, shepherd care, diocese choir, ushers, and sympathy club.
She was preceded in death, along with her parents, by siblings, Lionel Smith, Robert Smith, Calvin Smith, Charles Smith, Earl Smith, and Willie Smith.
Left to remember and cherish her loving spirit include her brother, Ray (Martha) Smith of Inman, SC; nieces, Natalie (Victor) Miller of Inman, SC, Katrina (Robert) Cunnigham of Inman, SC, Hope Pearson of Spartanburg, SC, and Sabrina (Ronald Robinson of Douglasville, GA; nephews Andre Smith, Raymond Smith, Kippey Pearson all of Spartanburg, SC; lifelong friend, David Powell; sister-in-law, Luetta Smith of Inman, SC;and host of great nieces and nephew, other relatives and friends.
On the morning of Thursday, December 19, 2024, Evelyn answered the Master's call to go home to be with Him. She can now rest from her labor and be in His presence forevermore. A beautiful life and beautiful soul.
