Obituary

Eugene William Graham, affectionately known as "Gene," was born on March 3, 1932, to the late Sudie Graham. He proudly served in the United States Army and was a recipient of the Purple Heart, a testament to courage and sacrifice.

Gene was known for an outgoing personality and a love for the outdoors. Hunting and fishing were favorite pastimes, and joy was found in the simple pleasures of life. Above all, family was deeply loved, and time spent together was greatly treasured. A hearty appetite was well known, especially for sweet potato pie, bananas, and apples. Gene was a former member of Knuckles Chapel Baptist Church.

Preceding him in death were his mother and siblings, Ruth Graham Wilson, Darlene Graham, Thomas Graham, and Howard Graham.

Left to cherish the memory are children, Harriett D. Brown Simpson of Spartanburg, South Carolina, and Ronnie (Vivian) Graham of Union, South Carolina; sister, Ilo Hairston of Washington, DC; four grandchildren; niece, Sheila Graham; nephew, Tim (Nikki) Hairston; and a host of other relatives and friends.

On December 23, 2025, Eugene transitioned peacefully at the Richard Michael Campbell Veterans Nursing Home. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered for service, family devotion, and a warm spirit.
