Eugene Dogan, affectionately known as “Gene,” was born on January 15, 1950, to the late Jessie Mae M. Dogan and the late Ray Dogan, in Spartanburg, South Carolina. He was educated in the Spartanburg County schools and was a graduate of Carver High School.
Gene went on to serve his country faithfully in the United States Navy, where he built a distinguished career. After retiring from the Navy he worked as a car salesman.
Gene enjoyed reading and was known for his quiet and reserved nature. He was a man of faith and practiced the Mormon faith.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Carolyn Dogan.
Left to cherish his life and memory are his sister, Linda Porter of Moore, South Carolina; stepdaughter, Lisa Johnson; godchildren, Khaliah A. Fuller and Derrick Turner; nephews, Anthony Steward and Travis Dogan; along with other relatives and friends who will forever hold him dear.
On Thursday, April 16, 2026, Eugene transitioned peacefully at the Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
