Obituary

Elaine Young was born, on February 10, 1961, the late Helen Miller Young and the late Waymond Young, in Spartanburg, SC. She was educated in Spartanburg County schools.

Elaine was a talkative, outspoken, bold and God-fearing lady. She was an excellent cook and was known for her dressing and sweet potato pies. She also enjoyed dining out at Pizza Inn. Elaine was a Carolina Panthers fan and her favorite color was purple. She was a member of Messiah Baptist Church and served as a missionary.

She was preceded in death, along with her parents, by son, Antonio Young; siblings, Susie Young, Willie E. Young, Larry Young, and Stevie Young; and brother-in-law, James "Jimmy" Lyles.

Left to carry on and treasure her legacy include her son, Bryan (Christine) Young of Spartanburg, SC; daughters, Tori Young of Spartanburg and Brandy Young of Charlotte, NC; brothers, Jerry (Angela) Young of Spartanburg, SC, Marvin Young of Duncan, SC and Roger Young of Spartanburg, SC; sisters, Brenda (Freddie) Harpe of Spartanburg, SC, Angela ( Nelson) Byrd of Greenville, SC, Rachel (Mack) Murphy of Lyman, SC, Linda Lyles of Spartanburg, SC, Glenda Young of Taylors, SC, and Tammy Young of Spartanburg; aunts, Irene (James) Miller and Betty R. Miller both of Wellford, SC; uncles, David (Barbara) Miller and Albert Miller both of Wellford, SC;  grandchildren, Emonie Hackett, Demarcus Drayton, Shakeel "KD" (Alexis) Hackett, Shekeria "Shi"  Young, Safari Hackett, Brandon Rogers, Jadakiss Fields, Terrance Young Shamiya Hackett, Justice "Ju Ju" Fields and Bryan Young, Jr.; great grandchildren,  Jeremiah Davis, Skhylar Hackett, Kirsten French, Journey Hackett, Makynslee Jeter, Taylonn Mitchell, Kayden Emanuel Jones, Amari Lor-Ann Robinson, Zimir Young, and  Miles Drayton; honorary niece, Annmedra Brown; nephew and godson, Tommy "1 Cent" Williams; friend, Violet Harris; and a host of nieces, nephew other relatives and friends.

On the afternoon of Saturday, October 26, 2024, Elaine's journey came to a close. Her full life and legacy will live on the hearts and minds of all who loved and knew her.
